I’m finally “almost” ready to start in on this cardboard shadowbox. I’m going to dress the “doll” up in frills and add some bling to this to make is a silk purse! Tomorrow is dentist day again so I’m hoping to get to this on Wednesday… I did manage to get a bit creative this morning however… I fancied up my fingertips.
See you Wednesday to share my shadowbox progress.
While out shopping for unmentionables I ran across a few items I thought I’d share with you. Who knew that you could buy crayons by color. A box of pink! OMG! I should have bought 2. I thought that it might just be a fun adventure to make my own lipstick with these… there are tutorials all over the internet. Or maybe melt them onto a canvas. Now I wish I’d bought more.
I did a manicure for the trip to my parents that I’m now back from. I spent 3 nights visiting with my mom and dad and my brother and his family while they were up from Texas. I washed a LOT of dishes so at the end of the visit my manicure was destroyed (as I knew it would be.) But it was fun to rock this look for the first day and a half.
This is Mint Sorbet by Sally Hansen with slices of fruity fimo cane! This was a hit with the family. Very summery and flirty.
I’m doing a new manicure tomorrow as it’s Monday and my “primping” day. I’ll share with you then.
Talk about multi-tasking. I can mop the floors and warm my feet at the same time. I love these fluffy plush mop slippers. They are a bit big so they are perfect for summer… They are roomy enough to stave off the Raynauds that effects my feet and allow some air flow so the rest of me doesn’t overheat in the summer sultriness.
Now that you know what’s on my feet… here’s what’s in my dinner bowl.
This has been a typical dinner for me since I’ve been on my diet… and I LOVE it.
Some of the ingredients of this “OMG-I’m-Almost-Out-Of-Lettuce Salad.
- Romaine lettuce
- Fresh chopped parsley
- Hard boiled egg
- Kidney beans
- Red cabbage
- Toasted pumpkin seeds
- 1/2 avocado
- Cherry tomatoes
- Bolthouse Blue Cheese Dressing
There may be more in this bountiful bowl… but I can’t recall at the moment. This is just one of my variations. The salads change on a weekly basis depending on what looks good in the produce department. Today is grocery day so my next creation will have more lettuce. =)
Have an awe inspired weekend and keep creating.
I finally finished this piece yesterday. After a heat wave and a Lupus wave, I’m back in my studio and attempting to get caught up on my creative self. I love how this turned out with the hat and the chains… Here’s some close ups shots.
Feathers, bling, and gears… oh my!
Texture paste, foils, lava medium and gorgeous layers of paints.
All that I have left to do is a add a hanger on the back and it’s good to go. Whatcha think? This is my first true Steampunk art piece and I had a blast creating it.
As it happens lately the creative juices flow up into my fingertips and I can’t resist the urge to paint my nails…. So here’s a tiny cocktail of Covergirl Outlast Nail Polish in Pina Colada… SO Summery!
Gonna paint the sky red tonight. I hope your day of celebrating this great countries freedom is as wonderful as mine!
God Bless America!
For Christmas several years ago I received some coffee syrups in this box… as always I’m on the lookout for unusual objects to alter into art and this box … as ugly as it was is perfect. I spray painted it pink a while back and just dug it out to make some glam art for my gallery wall. So join me as I attempt to covert an sows-ear- ugly- old box into a silk-purse-work-of-art.
Although not quite done I’m sharing anyway. Here’s a but of Steampunkery for ye.
I’ll be finishing this lil ditty up over the weekend. And so far I’m super satisfied with how my first steamy attempt at punk has turned out.
Oh yeah! Check out these BAD BOYS! Uber texture goodness. It’s like medium grit sandpaper on your nails. It’s gorgeous and fun… a but unexpected and not too over-the-top. This would totally rock on the tips of your toes too! Put a lil suga in your life! Calorie free too!
I’ve been patiently waiting for my local Walgreens to carry these fun and fuzzy fibers for my fingertips. The formula is clear with tiny colored fibers in it. My first attempt was with Wool Knot – the light blue. I did an accent nail and LOVED it. It’s a bit of a chore to remove so use the soak- with- cotton- ball –wrapped -in foil –for- 5- minute method.
There are eight different “nail sweaters” to choose from so I picked out what appealed to me.
What’s your favorite Sally Hansen polish this season?
I’m testing a new nail polish formula. Sinful Shine with gel tech. This manicure is 4 days old with no topcoat. Zero chips! I’m not excited about the color - (Sailors Delight) - but I love the wear so much I grabbed two new shades after yesterday’s dentist appointment.
Alfresco and Yours Truly are the newest colors to my expanding collection of nail paints. These polishes are extremely affordable and I highly recommend checking them out if you like your art to creep from the canvas to your fingertips!
I’m still working on my Top Hat painting… along with other goodies and will have them posted as soon as I’m done.
Tata for now. Keep Creating!
Ooohh La La… Oh how I love texture and color. I snapped this photo several days ago… I’m almost done with this painting. I thought I was finished yesterday but this morning while sitting here pondering it I got inspired… so I’m not yet done.
I took a break yesterday to grow my indoor garden…
And glam myself up a bit.
My nails are Wet N Wild’s Undercover…I Love the megalast® polish line. It’s got a professional brush for an awesome manicure and it’s fortified with staying power. A must have so I have more time for art…
The flower is made of muslin and a vintage button. I’m growing more flowers and don’t even have to water!
This lil’ fella speaks for himself. He pretty much dictated himself into creation. I was just his vessel.
I used everything from vintage sheet music to feathers on this piece. Stencils, pearls, precut trim, hemp cord, watch parts, decorative tape, gold foil, stickers, paints galore, and beeswax.
Here you can see the textures of the wax, foil, gears, and watch parts. This turned out deliciously and smell oh so sweetly of honey with the beeswax on it. Good enough to tweet!
