Mod Podge Molding

I read about the new Mod Podge Molds by Plaid and HAD to try them out. After a bit of research I found that to get the best results I should use Sculpey Original instead of the melting sticks that Mod Podge makes. I’m glad I took the advice. I used a wooden dowel as a brayer to smooth the clay into the mold after softening it with heat from my hands and rolling it into small balls and or/snakes, depending on which mold I was using.

After I was satisfied with the amount of clay in the mold I baked the whole thing in the oven on a cookie sheet at 275 for 15 minutes. Let them cool then carefully break away the edges of clay that aren’t part of the molded shape. Sand edges with either sandpaper or an emery board and paint as desired. These are going to make great embellishments in my art and can be used in SO many different ways you simply can’t go wrong. I’m definitely going to be buying more of these awesome molds.

Mixed Media and Makeup Mayhem

With the weather in the upper 80s and lower 90s it’s just too hot to be in my studio anytime after noon. I’ve been using my studio as my vanity as well… This has got to change as my makeup collection grows and changes as the seasons come and go. I need a decent storage area… as you can see …

The clutter of all my my art supplies and makeup and nail polish are blurring lines with each other at my desk and I’m going to need to find a solution very soon. I do have a desk downstairs but I was hoping to devote that to herbs and essential oils and reading materials. I need good lighting for both my “studio” projects… so I’m going to have to spend some time on Pinterest finding solutions for storage and whatnot.

And to think most of my products used to be confined to this…

One of these days if I don’t find a solution soon I’ll be grabbing my Acrylic Glaze instead of my moisturizer. So I’m on the search to end the mayhem and get my creativeness back on track!

Friday’s Frills

While out overstocking on Halloween candy for zombies that didn’t show up… they must have had an apocalypse to attend…I found this gorgeous eye shadow palette. I’m sure I’m getting what I pay for at only $3.00 but HOW do pass that deal up. I wear VERY little shadow as it is so I would only be using a small bit of color over eye shadow primer which will give this staying power and can always be used for other delightful things as well… Which I’ll likely experiment with as time goes by.

I picked this up at Walgreens so if you have one close and you want go grab one. The only bad thing about this is it’s hard to open. I just used a lil box knife at the side of the closer to pop it open. For the price… it’s a fun toy.

Have an awesome Friday and a great weekend. I’m getting ready to start a commission this weekend so wish me luck… I’ve been having trouble focusing lately. Bleh!

Check out the link for the eye shadow palette here.

Bingo Buddies

Here’s my newest ACEO. I’m calling this one Bingo Buddies. I’m planning to make one a day for the month of October. My way of appreciating my ‘breaster’ half.

I’m going to hold off on posting another bosom buddy ACEO until the third of October… I just wanted to get your attention and I think I managed. /wink!

Tomorrow I’m starting a new painting while I make the mental transition from my art doll series to my sewing series. I’m thinking fall like flowers to celebrate the season.

I hope to see you back soon. Don’t be afraid to leave a comment. I’d love to hear from you.

Art Junkie!

Here’s a peek at the goods I bought for myself from some of the money I made selling my art… I’m supplying for my habit!

There’s lots more but I don’t want to bore you with pictures of embellishments. Instead I’ll surprise you with them in my art. My Angelina Fibers came today and I’m having fun adding them to my latest piece. They are absolutely gorgeous and add great color and texture to my art.

I also cut my hair today with the Creaclip. It works awesome. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. And I love how my hair turned out. And… I did my nails… just a clear shiny coat but they look oh so much better. I’ve been on a strict diet for a while now and the results are starting to show so I’m taking my care of my appearance now that I have my cheekbones back. =)

One of these day’s I’ll post a picture of myself… I’m not quite ready for that though.

Okay… I have coffee to drink so I’m outta here for now… I’ll share my next painting super soon!

Happy Tuesday

Happy 2sday. I’m a bit unhappy today. Scribefire, the tool I use for making posts on my blog had an update and I can’t figure out how the poop to use it. I HATE updates like this. It says they have redesigned it to make it simpler. NOT. Get real peeps. You did it simply to ruin my day. So I’m blogging from the back door of my WordPress account which is as slow as dial up. (Sorry for the small font size… I can’t figure out how to change it with this bucket of bolts setup.)

Needless to say… because of these frustrations today’s blog post is going to be short and sweet until I can either undo the update or stab my way through it.

My show and tell for today is a harvest! Perfect for the time of year.  This was part of a birthday present many, many moons ago. Each veggie was individual wrapped and packaged in this adorable basket. This is a very detailed bounty and each gem is a work of art… and healthy “candy” for the eye!

I hope to be back tomorrow with a functional tool to blog with. Until then… eat  your veggies!

Dare to be Different

I dare to be different… just ask those who know me!

I dug out my journal for some playtime and had a great time with some brand new collage papers my mom bought me along with pastel pencils. Oooo-la-la! What fun. It’s going to be fun to fill this journal. I think my next entry is going to be bursting with fall colors….. and here’s why…

This is the view from my studio window. The Oak tree across the street is the first to turn this fall… it’s framed by green so it really stands out and says… “Look at me!” It really is quite vibrant, especially in the sun.  I’m playing in Photoshop today trying to convert some of my scanned paintings into ACEOs for selling. The program is giving me a rough time so I thought I’d break and drop in here to chat it up a bit.

Halloween was a huge success. We had 48 trick-or-treaters. That’s a record high for me. I didn’t get any before moving here and I was very well prepared. I bought four bags of candy… there are a few fun sized bags of M & Ms left for household tricksters. There were some really cute customs and kiddos. One that sticks out was a tiny little boy dressed as a fireman. He was no bigger than a minute and uber shy! We had a baby in a stroller who slept through the whole thing while his proud parents took him around on his first Hallows Eve. The funniest was a group of three boys around the age of 12 they were dressed identically as Urkel and they acted the part. Super funny.

It’s Tuesday again and time for my show and tell. Here’s this weeks toy.

The bears name is Bartholomew he was given to me by my mom after I destroyed the bear given to me by icky bad evil ex-boyfriend. I needed a fresh start and Barty here smells like potpourri so he’s far from icky. I decked him out in some rain gear for the fall season. If you know Washington state – you know how much rain we get here… Barty will be safe from the weather this winter…and he’s looking very stylish while doing so!

Until tomorrow. Stay high and dry!

I finished my series. It was so much fun! Now I need to add the hangers, vanish the paintings and post them on Etsy. Should I post them separately or as a set? What do you think?

I’m getting super low on birch wood and decided to make a mini banner hanging with the 5 smaller pieces I have left. It’s going to say PEACE… I’m in the middle of drawing it out now. And again I have to decide on colors… oy vey!  The hardest part of my creative process. Once I’ve chosen a color scheme I can create like a mad woman!

I’ll be starting Christmas gifts very soon. I have some ideas already about what I’d like to make for peeps. I can’t share them here till after the fact though as I actually have at least ONE family reader. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one reading my blog. I’m more than sure that’s true on most days. Hee!

Tonight’s supper is going to be a delicious medley of beef, rice and beans with a Mexican flare! I dug through the larder and found all the ingredients I need. I did however quit buying avocados … they are just too expensive now.

And now time for the final shoe to drop in my teeny shoe collection.  Here’s this weeks installment of Tuesdays Toys.

Next week I’ll share the weather appropriate attire of my teddy bear. Fun stuff ahead! Stay tuned.

Tuesday’s Toys

Winter, Spring, Summer and …

Here’s the first in the series of the four seasons that I’m painting over the next couple of weeks. I finished the final touches on this one this morning and started on winter. Yep! It’s cold! Time for baked squash and roasts, not to mention hot spiced cider. Comfort food to keep your tummy warm after coming in from raking the autumn leaves. Total gorgeousness of color!

Keeping with today’s Fall theme I want so share a picture of my mom’s Sumac tree. They are absolutely a burst of color in the fall and a lust shady green in the summer. They grow like mad though and would soon consume my back yard so I have to pass sadly.

No one paints like God! And all we have to do is enjoy it.

It’s Tuesdays Toys again and instead of sharing a toy… (I won’t drop the last shoe till next week.) I’m sharing something I saw this morning that tickled my funny bone. I hope you get the same chuckle I got from it.

On the way to Halloween

I made this painting for my mom for her birthday. She has an early October birthday and this isn’t the only time I’ve given her something spooky for her day. This turned out awesomely. In person it’s vibrant, the textures and prominent and the softness of her face really stands out. I tried something new on this one. I usually do the faces directly onto the wood but this time I gave it a base coat of paint. The colors blended extremely well this way and it actually eliminated the amount of work I needed to do at the end of the face shading process… plus it gave her a sweet look.

I have four more this size that I’m currently working on in a Winter/Spring/Summer/Fall series and I did the faces the same way on them. I’ll share them when I get back. I’m going out of town for a few days for a visit with my parent. Since I’m in the process of getting ready now I thought I’d do my Tuesday’s Toys post as early as possible.

Here’s this weeks show and tell!

Aren’t they just the sweetest for your feetest! There ya go sugar toes! See you in a few days with new Nom Nom to share. Have an awe-filled week!
