Finally… the second commission is done. This was so much fun. It’s got layer upon layer of love. Using gesso board I started by using crumpled tissue and then washing it with color. after I had the sky and the ground defined I added texture to the background with crackle medium, flocking material, black lava, and more. I used a brick patterned stencil for the foreground and used texture flakes on the bricks. I painted them with 2 shades of red and sponged some black in to finish them off. I used acrylic fibers for the grass and some jute for the flowers, topping them with pearl embellishments and mini beads. The houses are made from wooden shapes covered with a variety of collaging paper and topped with window dressing. I added butterflies and applied sparkle glaze over the top of them and then used mini Scrabble tiles to complete the painting.
I had great fun with this and hope that the recipient enjoys it for years to come.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted an art piece. This is a commission I finished today. I’m working on a second and third commission now too and the second one is nearing the finish line. I’m really pleased with how this turned out. It has tons of texture. I used a crumpled up paper napkin that I peeled the white backing from for the background. Then I used a gold metallic finish rubbed in with a baby wipe for yumminess.
The flowers are enhanced with different texture mediums from gold leaf, black lava, and modeling paste, I used hardware for the centers of the yellow flowers, I painted them and added red rhinestones to the centers, the other two flowers have rhinestone centers as well.
I’ll be back soon to post the second painting in my commission as soon as it’s finished… which should be SOON!
Life with no thorns is impossible, but we can do our best to keep them out of where they don’t belong. Right gals? You betcha!
This ATC is a gorgeous coral colored collage paper layered onto Bristol Board. The foil enhanced paper has the same pattern as the background paper so I knew I had to use it. (Thanks Papa!) I used white pastels around the edge and smudged it in layered a strip of elegant lacy sticker trim and added this silk flower edged with a pinky coral color along with 2 leaves. The edge of the card is gooped up with a texture medium called Liquitex White Opaque Flakes. As of right now this is one of my favorites. Am much as I am a lover of Pink… Coral holds a special place in my heart as well.
Tomorrow will be here soon on the wings of angels so drop by for a cup of joe and check out Day 28 in my BCA Month ATC series.
Peace of Mind! Get your exam this month. I’ve reached the halfway point in my series to do my share for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s a challenging endeavor to say the least. I’m working on tomorrows card and had some foil glue drying…. I turned to finish off some bling and my embellishments have disappeared off my desk. I’m convinced there is a mysterious vortex in my studio that I’m losing items… and my mind to!
I “misplaced” several other items and after a complete cleaning of desk and studio…the missing supplies remain missing. Time for some more serious prayer. Maybe then I’ll have Peace of Mind too!
I’ll be back tomorrow with Day 17. See you then!
What fun this was. I really enjoyed learning how to make the ribbon and fabric flowers. The jute circles were super easy to make and make a great backdrop for any flower. I used my Martha Stewart leaf punch and cut some glitter paper leaves and edged them with plum paint. I used a few flower rhinestones and some pearls to finish this off. It’s very pearly and shimmery in person. It would be great for a photo, a saying, poem, or work of art. I’m opting to leave it plain for now.
A few close-ups.
See the mini pearls in the centers? Sweet huh?
Well, I’m off to doodle on some Jenga blocks now. I’m following my muse. I have no idea where she’s leading me atm… but I’ll keep you posted.
Tacos tonight. NOM! What’s on your plate?
I spent more time than I intended on Sunday on Pinterest. Warning… it’s crack for women. When I do take time out to go there I’m always overjoyed. I never fail to find dozens of things to try out and bookmark. These flowers are fruits from my “research” (with coffee) on Sunday.
I have a large project in mind using some jute style flowers. I’ll be working on that soon. No spoilers yet though. =)
At first I didn’t know what I was going to do with these awesome flowers but then it hit me… I had yet another canvas picture frame…
I sponged the text pages white and am painting them with several coats of iridescent medium to make it look pearly. I’ve been working on the flowers getting them ready to glue on… and I’ve been digging through my pearl embellishments and working on leaves. I’ll have this done tomorrow so hop on over and check it out.
I wanted to share a link today. If you remember back just about before summer started I made a painting for Enzo who had a wish to swim with the dolphins. Well… I’m happy to report that his wish came true and last month he… well… I’ll let his mom tell the story… click here.
She was sweet enough to post the painting I sent Enzo as well. It’s a heartwarming story. I encourage you to add a smile and some tenderness to your day and head over and read it.
With the weather changing I’m turning my gardening focus indoors and tending to my house plants. This is one I picked up at Home Depot over the summer. I love the colors…. very pretty
I’ll be back tomorrow for Psalm Sunday.
