Fine Tuning God’s Sparrow

Sparrow1

I started with an 8×8 wooden plank and layered it with vintage text pages, collaging papers, stencils, and layers of paints… using glaze to allow colors from behind to show through.

Then I really started having fun… using several of my favorite summery colors I started stenciling and adding color and depth to the background. I used black hemp to make a “branch” for the bird to perch on. I used vintage sheet music for the sparrow and will be adding many more layers of background color and texture. I just wanted to show you that the bird is in da house!

And I just couldn’t help adding some summer to my fingertips as well….

How pretty is that!? I’m really loving this color. It wears awesomely and adds such a joyful “noise” to my fingers that I smile each time I look at them.

This is Sally Hansen’s Xtreme wear in Mint Sorbet with a topcoat of Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Top Coat.

And I’m ready for the weekend!

Twinchies1

Twinchies2

Using 2” pieces of cardboard thanks to an empty Wheat Thins box… I up-cycled my trash to treasures. There’s everything from text pages to paint chip scraps adhered to the cardboard with tiny collages created on each.

Each is it’s own adorable little work of art. I used everything from tassels to chipboard, straight pins to buttons, and silk flowers to mini clothes pins… and tons of imagination. The possibilities are limited only to your creativity. Try some!

I mounted all of the minis on a wooden plank that I adhered vintage sheet music to. I topped that with tissue paper and then used an array of colors and glimmer mists to add depth and shimmer to it. As you can see it truly turned my trash into a treasure that I gave me mom for her lavender bedroom.

TwinchiesBasket

A tisket, a tasket… some twinchies in my basket. I got an idea while surfing Pinterest for making twinchie collages. I’m going to group them on a canvas for some wall art for my mom. She has no idea that I’m doing this for her… the Be Still painting will also be for her. The spring weather is inspiring me and helping me take my mind off myself.

Twinchies

These are a few in progress. I’m now up to five completed and working on three more. I’m not sure yet how many I’ll need for my canvas but I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. I’ve cut 2” squares from an empty cracker box and am layering papers, ephemera , trims, and a plethora of other goodies on these mini pics. I think this is going to turn out delightful!

Taking these baby steps into my land of creative healing is helping!  Stay tuned!
