Sally Hansen Fuzzy Wuzzies

Wednesday, June 26th, 2013

I’ve been patiently waiting for my local Walgreens to carry these fun and fuzzy fibers for my fingertips. The formula is clear with tiny colored fibers in it. My first attempt was with Wool Knot – the light blue. I did an accent nail and LOVED it. It’s a bit of a chore to remove so use the soak- with- cotton- ball –wrapped -in foil –for- 5- minute method.

There are eight different “nail sweaters” to choose from so I picked out what appealed to me.

What’s your favorite Sally Hansen polish this season?

Sailors Delight

SailorsDelight

I’m testing a new nail polish formula. Sinful Shine with gel tech. This manicure is 4 days old with no topcoat. Zero chips! I’m not excited about the color -  (Sailors Delight) -  but I love the wear so much I grabbed two new shades after yesterday’s dentist appointment.

Alfresco and Yours Truly are the newest colors to my expanding collection of nail paints. These polishes are extremely affordable and I highly recommend checking them out if you like your art to creep from the canvas to your fingertips!

I’m still working on my Top Hat painting… along with other goodies and will have them posted as soon as I’m done.

Tata for now. Keep Creating!

Playing with Paint

Blue_Away2

I picked up a gorgeous new nail polish to brighten my mood. I’ve fallen in love with the new spring/summer pastels that are out. They make your nails look so happy. I bought a pretty pink, two different shades of pastel yellow and this unbelievable blue. I love Sally Hansen nail polishes. They always wear well and have awesome color! Plus I’m a gi-normeous fan of the pro brushes they have in these Insta-Dri bottles. It makes for a flawlessly fast manicure.

Today I’m working some more on a bird painting that has a life of it’s own. It’s taking me on a path that I hadn’t intended when I started it. I guess that’s why I don’t normally “plan” art. So it’s time to put my hiking boots on and let this bird take me on a hike.

Paint with passion!

Fine Tuning God’s Sparrow

Sparrow1

I started with an 8×8 wooden plank and layered it with vintage text pages, collaging papers, stencils, and layers of paints… using glaze to allow colors from behind to show through.

Sparrow2

Then I really started having fun… using several of my favorite summery colors I started stenciling and adding color and depth to the background. I used black hemp to make a “branch” for the bird to perch on. I used vintage sheet music for the sparrow and will be adding many more layers of background color and texture. I just wanted to show you that the bird is in da house!

And I just couldn’t help adding some summer to my fingertips as well….

SH_Mint_Sorbet

How pretty is that!? I’m really loving this color. It wears awesomely and adds such a joyful “noise” to my fingers that I smile each time I look at them.

This is Sally Hansen’s Xtreme wear in Mint Sorbet with a topcoat of Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Top Coat.

And I’m ready for the weekend!

Wet Cement

WetCement

Although a bit dinged up on this close up… in real life they still look fresh on day three of my manicure. I bought this new polish last week and love the trendy autumn color. It’s Wet n’ Wild – Wet Cement. Love the durability, the professional/wide brush, and the neutral color. The drying time was a bit longer than most polishes which is a bummer but cold water helps set your nails in a pinch. Top it off with a top coat and you’re ready to go!.

I’ll share some of my art projects soon… at the moment they are in progress on my desk. Drop by again soon to see what else is bloomin’ in my artful jungle.

Halloween_2012

Here’s the manicure I rocked for Halloween and for passing out candy to the wee ones… and the not-so-wee ones. We had half the amount of goblins at our door this year and we were more than prepared. Last year I gave out 4 bags of candy. In anticipation for a rush on treats I stocked up on 4 bags plus a super bag, which is the equivalent of about 3 bags. Now there is a large basket sitting in the entryway that smells vaguely of wrappings and chocolate. I’m sure it will get eaten though.

For this manicure I used a triangle shaped makeup sponge and dabbed on Sally Hanson Insta-Dri in Lickety-Split Lime in several coats. I used Stickles glitter glue from my art stash and my fingertip to apply the Lime Green glitter. After the glitter was dry I added to thin layers of clear top coat to keep the glitter in place and protect the manicure.

Today is clean-the-studio day… eww! My brain is fogged over from the clutter so I’m off to put things in order so I can start my next project!  See you later alligator!

Glitz and Glitter

GlitzyGlimmer

It’s day 10 of my Breast Cancer Awareness Month series. Lots of glam. The glitter didn’t photograph well but this card is the fully loaded baked potato when it comes to glitz. It’s got so much glitter and shimmer that it inspired me to glam up my nails too. Check it out!

GlitterTips

Again with the photographing of glitter but you get the idea. I focus on painting just the tips of my nails with my glitter polish. I used Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear in Disco Ball. Up close and personal this polish really pops off the nail with light shimming everywhere from the rainbows of tiny specks of color. This manicure gave me a few ideas for some fun nail art that I’ll be trying next week. I’ll share more after my lab experiment. Mahhaha…

See you tomorrow for more Breast Cancer Awareness.
