As for my easel… here’s the progress I’ve made thus far on my latest…

FoamyFlower4

I’ll be working more on this tomorrow. It’s time for me to head downstairs and start scaring up something for dinner. It’s pork roast for tonight so I need to get it in the oven soon.

FoamyFlower3

This is coming along nicely. The flower, leave, and berries are 3D. They are cut from QuakeMat pads that I picked up for 10 cents per packet at a surplus outlet. I drew the designs on with a marker and cut them out with ultra sharp scissors, to adhere them I crumpled paper napkins in white and mod podged them to the prepped surface. This is now in the drying process so I’m working on a few smaller projects that I’ll share here later.

Using wood panels and a wash of green paints I layered tissue paper over the top and let the wrinkles fall where they may. Adding more layers with stamps, textures, stencils, mediums, foils, paints, and lots of love… I added until I was happy with what I saw. These simple panels are a delicious pop of color and texture for any smaller space in your home, cube, office, get-away… and more.

Diorama

Finally done! My diorama/shadow box/up-cycled-cardboard-box art is finished. I’m loving it.

I used cheesecloth, buttons, papers, tapes, thread, rhinestones, measuring tape, trims, embellishments and several different mediums to assemble this art piece. It’s different, fun, and fashionable and will look stunning on my bedroom gallery wall. Now I need to start working with some turquoise to break up all the pinks I’ve done. THAT will be a fun change. I’ve already prepped two 5×5 boards and plan to make little paintings that can include ATC art that can be interchanged.

The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

shadowbox

The Ugly…

For Christmas several years ago I received some coffee syrups in this box… as always I’m on the lookout for unusual objects to alter into art and this box … as ugly as it was is perfect. I spray painted it pink a while back and just dug it out to make some glam art for my gallery wall. So join me as I attempt to covert an sows-ear- ugly- old box into a silk-purse-work-of-art.

The Good…

tophat2

Although not quite done I’m sharing anyway. Here’s a but of Steampunkery for ye.

I’ll be finishing this lil ditty up over the weekend. And so far I’m super satisfied with how my first steamy attempt at punk has turned out.

The Bad…

Oh yeah! Check out these BAD BOYS! Uber texture goodness. It’s like medium grit sandpaper on your nails. It’s gorgeous and fun… a but unexpected and not too over-the-top. This would totally rock on the tips of your toes too! Put a lil suga in your life! Calorie free too!

Sally Hansen Fuzzy Wuzzies

Wednesday, June 26th, 2013

I’ve been patiently waiting for my local Walgreens to carry these fun and fuzzy fibers for my fingertips. The formula is clear with tiny colored fibers in it. My first attempt was with Wool Knot – the light blue. I did an accent nail and LOVED it. It’s a bit of a chore to remove so use the soak- with- cotton- ball –wrapped -in foil –for- 5- minute method.

There are eight different “nail sweaters” to choose from so I picked out what appealed to me.

What’s your favorite Sally Hansen polish this season?

Playing with Paint

Blue_Away2

I picked up a gorgeous new nail polish to brighten my mood. I’ve fallen in love with the new spring/summer pastels that are out. They make your nails look so happy. I bought a pretty pink, two different shades of pastel yellow and this unbelievable blue. I love Sally Hansen nail polishes. They always wear well and have awesome color! Plus I’m a gi-normeous fan of the pro brushes they have in these Insta-Dri bottles. It makes for a flawlessly fast manicure.

Today I’m working some more on a bird painting that has a life of it’s own. It’s taking me on a path that I hadn’t intended when I started it. I guess that’s why I don’t normally “plan” art. So it’s time to put my hiking boots on and let this bird take me on a hike.

Paint with passion!

Fine Tuning God’s Sparrow

Sparrow1

I started with an 8×8 wooden plank and layered it with vintage text pages, collaging papers, stencils, and layers of paints… using glaze to allow colors from behind to show through.

Sparrow2

Then I really started having fun… using several of my favorite summery colors I started stenciling and adding color and depth to the background. I used black hemp to make a “branch” for the bird to perch on. I used vintage sheet music for the sparrow and will be adding many more layers of background color and texture. I just wanted to show you that the bird is in da house!

And I just couldn’t help adding some summer to my fingertips as well….

SH_Mint_Sorbet

How pretty is that!? I’m really loving this color. It wears awesomely and adds such a joyful “noise” to my fingers that I smile each time I look at them.

This is Sally Hansen’s Xtreme wear in Mint Sorbet with a topcoat of Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Top Coat.

And I’m ready for the weekend!

SpiritSoap

While washing my hands this morning getting ready for another coat of lilac polish I noticed the shape of the soap took on a ghostly appearance. The creative side of me just couldn’t miss the opportunity to add some googly eyes and a post it note with BOO written on it for the next person in line for the bathroom. I thought I’d share my sudsy spirit with you today.

LacyLilac

Mission accomplished! Sally Hanson’s Lacy Lilac nail polish is perfect for spring and summer and a statement polish for me for the lavender color which represents Lupus Awareness Month.

Today I’m finishing up my sewing collage and starting on this…..

BobbinBlooms

I made this garland of buttons, beads, and bobbins for the painting I’m currently working on but it just didn’t fit in the way I wanted it to so I decided to make a special piece just for this band of bling. What better things to do this time of year than to create gardens… indoors and out!

Since the sun has taken a certain dislike to me I’ll make my garden indoors for now. I’ll share me blooms with you as they grow.
