ItsyBitsy

This was a blast! I had the best time with this ATC… going a bit overboard with detail. Detail is by far my favorite part of doing a painting/collage/assemblage. Gilding the lily as it were.

I started with a precut card made from illustration board and painted the edges flat black with acrylic paint. I then added the orange paper from a Halloween stack I’ve had for nearly three year. It had the sparkly black dots on it already… so I added a black sponged border and used glitter glaze to make it look more like the existing dots. Then I added the spider web woman and more glitter glaze. I topped it off spider confetti hanging from black web threads pulled from some black jute. I set a Rhinestone in the center and added the Itsy Bitsy text at the bottom.

I adore the composition and whimsy of this and found it fitting for the month of October!

So Day 5 is complete! Have an awesome Friday and I’ll see you tomorrow for Day 6 in the Breast Cancer Awareness series.

Spooky
Candy corn is right around the corner. I used LOVE that stuff as a kid. I even loved the smell of it. Now I love to have a dish of it set out amongst the Halloween decorations just so catch a whiff of it and see the pretty colors. I don’t eat it any more but I bet the spiders in this painting would love to chow down on it. This sweet little hallows eve painting was inspired by a package of Halloween napkins I bought last year. I loved the skull and spiders on it. I used confetti spiders and covered over them with a white layer of napkin and added a wash of paint over the top.. then I topped the spiders off with a golden rhinestone. She’s up on Etsy today if you just can’t resist.

I started a “project” yesterday morning and worked on it again today, right now it’s drying and will be ready to start painting on soon. I’m making something from a recycled carton and I have a vision but they don’t always turn out as planned so I’m stepping lightly as I go. I’ll share more with you when I feel more confident in how it’s turning out. I’m sure after I’ve done one I’ll know more about how to do the second one… for now I have a learning curve… or a complete curve ball! Only time will tell.

I dug through my toy box and found something really fun to share with you!

These are great! They have such fun projects and you don’t need to be a kid to do them… Being a kid at heart is perfect enough. Each card has a project on the front and the instructions and materials list on the back. Just think of all the fun you can have on a cold winter’s day!

Aren’t they just the cutest things EVER!?
